As technology changes the time that we live in rapidly, almost everybody becomes more individualized and going towards solitude, which is being discussed by sociologists and psychologists. The development of children in terms of both physically and emotionally, is significantly important  at this point. Spending more time in nature, participating in various activities in order to develop their hand and cognitive skills, taking part in at least one sports branch, playing musical instruments and taking part in theatrical dance activities are suggested by the experts. In this context and with years of experience, we see that Aikido has a very positive impact on children and teens. The feedbacks coming from parents is a proof of this and our reward as well.

 

Why should children practice Aikido ?

 

Aikido is a martial art that children can learn easily. Because Aikido contains a far-eastern philosophy it boosts self confidence without the urge of violence. Since Aikido is practiced with partners we encourage our children to practice with different partners in each different technique. Children socialize in this way. It plays a major role in opening out children especially who are introverted. It teaches both self confidence and politeness.

Children who practice Aikido learn to focus, listen  and stay calm. Although this is not always expected from children it has been observed that this has a positive effect on lessons and homeworks.

Due to the nature of techniques which may vary from simple to complicated, positive changes in the perception threshold of chilldren are targeted.

Aikido is an art that is practiced with the whole body and mind not with a certain part. So this improves flexibility and muscle development as well as the coordination. It helps children protect themselves in a practical way. This protection is not only in sense of a physical attack coming from someone else, but also provides protection against minor incidents that might occur in our daily lives such as falls, crashes and etc.

For instance, children who learn falling techniques which is one of the most basic moves, know how to fall and are not harmed at all.

Anyone can practice Aikido. It is even suitable for minors. Children learn the basics of Aikido with carefully prepared games while they are having fun. Children who practice Aikido are always happy. We look forward seing you soon at our Aikido class.
